Middleweight: 155-194.9 lbs
Heavyweight: 195-234.9 lbs
Super-Heavyweight: 235+

Women:
Lightweight: <124.9 lbs
Middleweight: 125-149.9 lbs
Heavyweight: 150+

Personal Equipment: The only requirement is for knee high socks to be worn as well as any kind of footwear (no barefoot lifts allowed). Competitors may wear whatever attire they are comfortable in aside from a deadlift suit.

Deadlift Rules: A lift is good when awarded a minimum of 2 white lights by the referees. Two or more red lights result in disqualification of that lift. If a competitor misses all three attempts, they are disqualified from the competition.

  1. The lifter must face the front of the platform.
  2. The lifter has one attempt to complete the lift. Any rising of the bar beyond normal pre-lift set up or any deliberate attempt to lift the bar will count as an attempt.
  3. The bar can be gripped with an optional grip in both hands and must be laid horizontally in front of the lifter’s feet.
  4. The lifter can start the lift at any time before the one minute clock expires. Once started, the bar may come to a stop, but must be lifted without any downward movement until the lifter is standing erect.
  5. The knees, hips, and shoulders must be locked in a straight position on completion of the lift, with the lifter standing erect.
  6. The Head Referee’s signal shall consist of the audible command “DOWN” with a downward movement of the hand. The signal will not be given until the bar is held motionless and the lifter is in the finished position.
  7. The lifter must return the bar to the platform with both hands and under control.

Causes for Disqualification:

  1. Any downward movement of the bar before it reaches the final position, prior to the “Down” command.
  2. Failure to stand erect
  3. Failure to lock the knees straight at the completion of the lift.
  4. Laying the bar on the thighs during the performance of the lift.
  5. “Hitching”, or the upward and downward jerking of the bar.
  6. Backward, forward, or lateral movement of the foot. However, rocking the foot between ball and heel is permitted.
  7. Lowering the bar before receiving the Head Referee’s signal.
  8.  After the down command, not maintaining control of the bar back to the platform with both hands on the bar (dumping or dropping the bar).
  9. Failure to comply with any of the requirements contained in the general description of the lift, which precedes this list of disqualifications.
  10. If the lifters shoulders come back (slight downward motion) and the bar settles this should not be reason to disqualify the lift.
  11. Failing to begin the lift prior to the one minute time clock expiring.

*First Place winners each won $1000 cash.
